The Swan Princess is a 1994 American fantasy animated film based on the ballet Swan Lake. The film, starring Jack Palance, John Cleese, Steven Wright and Sandy Duncan, was directed by former Disney animation director Richard Rich and produced by Nest Family Entertainment/Rich Animation Studios, with music by Azevedos Lex. The story revolves around the relationship between Princess Odette and Prince Derek who, brought together by their parents, loathed each other as children and teenagers, but as adults develop romantic feelings for each other, get married and become the future rulers of the kingdom. The film was released in theaters on November 18, 1994 and received mixed reviews from critics there.
